What the app is
Simple Health Engine is a provider-facing clinical decision support tool. A clinician launches it from the EHR, and it prepares a pre-visit brief for that clinician: action items, labs to review, and the prior plan carried forward.
What data it reads
With the clinician's authorization through SMART on FHIR, the app reads the current patient's record from the practice's EHR: demographics, encounters, conditions, observations and lab reports, documents, medications, allergies, immunizations and procedures. Access is read-only. The app never writes to the EHR.
How the data is used
- Only to generate the brief for the treating clinician in that practice.
- Never sold, rented or shared for advertising.
- Never used to train third-party AI models.
Storage and security
- Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
- Protected health information is not kept outside the practice's own systems.
- Any analytics use de-identified codes, never names or record numbers.
- Access tokens are held server-side and are never exposed to the browser.
Who can see it
Only authorized users of the practice that launched the app. Service providers who help operate the app work under confidentiality obligations and access data only as needed to run it.
Your choices
A practice can revoke the app's access at any time from its EHR. Patients with questions about their record should contact their practice.
